After attending the University of Texas of Austin (as a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Silver Spur Service organization) and a brief stay in Dallas, Mr. Garcia relocated back to Austin and worked with a Fortune 500 company, Philip Morris USA, working up into management. After 7 years with Philip Morris he began his career as an entrepreneur in development and hospitality.
Donnie built & conceptualized Fiesta Ranch, an 80-acre ranch that specialized in large corporate picnics and special events. He worked on all aspects of the planning from building design, property layout and structural construction. From 2000 to 2007 he built and owned several businesses in the hospitality industry, including a corporate ranch in Houston called Regal Ranch & wedding venue in Austin – The Terrace Club.
In 2007, Mr. Garcia joined Hal Jones Development/McCombs Properties as Vice President of Construction. He supervised the day to day management of the communities’ construction and all of the resort amenities. McCombs communities include The Boardwalk @ St Charles Bay, Rockport-Fulton, Texas and The Reserve at Lake Travis, Austin, Texas. He was also the key part in the design & development of the McCombs Sunshine Kids Camp (2009)
By 2010 he moved into the position of VP Operations, where he managed a team of 12 people on a daily basis – including training & education of the sales team.
In 2013, Donnie & his wife of 32 years re-located to Rockport-Fulton, Texas to oversee the latest development for McCombs Properties, The Reserve at St Charles Bay.
After hurricane Harvey in 2017, he resigned from McCombs Properties and opened the new event venue – La Palma Event Center. With his love of Real Estate, he pursued his Texas Realtor license and joined the team at Spears & Co with his wife.
His hobbies include fishing, hunting and traveling. And he currently resides on the board of the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (Port Aransas)
